Lead a team. Champion choice. Make a real difference.

Hawksbury is a values-driven organisation providing high-quality residential support for people with learning disabilities. We operate a range of community focused residential homes across Christchurch, Kaiapoi and Dunedin.  Guided by our motto “My Life, My Choice”, we support people to live meaningful, independent lives within their communities.

We are seeking an experienced, energetic and compassionate Residential House Manager to lead our St Albans home.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will manage, support, and motivate a team of support workers to deliver high-quality, person-centred support. You will embody Hawksbury’s values and lead by example — working alongside your team to support residents with personal cares, household tasks, and their overall health and wellbeing.

You’ll also promote the principles of Enabling Good Lives, ensuring each resident has the opportunity to actively participate in decisions about their life and achieve their goals.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and manage a team
  • Oversee rosters, household budgets, and administration
  • Liaise with whānau, health professionals, and external providers
  • Ensure residents' needs are met while supporting independence and choice
  • Balance operational, people leadership, and direct support work
  • Work a combination of morning and afternoon shifts (Monday–Friday)

About you

You’ll be a confident, capable leader who genuinely enjoys working with people.

You will have:

  • NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (Support Work) Level 3 or equivalent required; Level 4 preferred, or a commitment to obtaining Level 4.
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • Disability sector experience (intellectual disability experience preferred)
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the resilience to cope with the unexpected

What We Offer

  • Fully paid health insurance
  • External professional supervision
  • Ongoing learning and development
  • Supportive, values-based workplace culture
  • Weekends and public holidays off
  • Access to organisation-wide conferences and events

If you’re ready to step into a rewarding leadership role where your work truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
